Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Chelsea vs. Tottenham at English Premier League
On This Page
London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham highlights EPL matchday 8. Although these teams aren’t close in the EPL standings, their history draws attention. We’ve seen so many memorable clashes in the past. But back to the present day. Chelsea are battling to stay in the title race, but they’ve already fallen behind by 8 points. Tottenham, meanwhile, wants to move up and get away from the relegation zone.

Chelsea
The Blues needed a couple of routine wins. After trashing Bournemouth 5-1, they were better than Everton on the road, 0-2. The latter game was tense, with both sides having chances, but Chelsea didn’t have much trouble and somewhat won without pushing too hard.
This was the 7th game in Chelsea’s last 9 in which the Blues netted at least twice. Their offense is arguably one of the best in England, yet the defense has issues that need to be resolved.
Believe it or not, this was the Blues’ first clean sheet in the Premiership, and only their second overall this season. Enzo Maresca will have more trouble in that area ahead of this match because goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez won’t play due to a fractured jaw.
Tottenham
The Spurs finally won. They met Coventry this Monday and beat the Premier League newcomers 3-1. After 6 in a row, Tottenham broke the ice mainly because of James Maddison, who orchestrated midfield perfectly. He even scored in the first half, firing up the crowd.
After a 1-1 draw in Manchester against United, this win is a perfect starting point to build better morale ahead of an exhausting autumn. Roberto De Zerbi now has to keep spirits high in the locker room; otherwise, he might be out of a job if Tottenham returns to its losing rhythm.
In terms of efficiency, the last 4 matches ended with both teams scoring, and three of them featured 4 or more goals. So the Spurs recent matches seem to be interesting a lot.
Chelsea: Penders; Hato, Lacroix, Colwill, Acheampong; Caicedo, Henderson; Neto, Palmer, Rogers; Joao Pedro
Tottenham: Kinsky; van Hecke, Adarabioyo, Van de Ven; Tonalli, Kudus; Gray, Maddison, Robertson; Marmoush, Solanke
The Blues have won 6 straight against Tottenham in the last 3 years. All were in the EPL, and in all but two, the Blues scored at least two goals. Looking only at games at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea hasn’t lost to Tottenham since 2018.
Right now, Chelsea is the better team and has better chemistry on the field. Tottenham comes to play without any pressure, which is a plus for the Spurs, but their defense looks fragile, which isn’t ideal against the Blues. Joao Pedro, Palmer, Neto, and the boys are extremely lethal, and that’s the reason we are betting on the home team.
Our verdict: Chelsea
